The Lamar School District carefully monitors weather conditions throughout the winter months. When snow, ice, or other hazardous conditions may impact travel, the district follows a thorough process to determine whether school will open on time, operate on a delayed start, or close. Our highest priority is always the safety and security of our students and staff.
District officials evaluate road conditions across the area and review updated weather forecasts before making any decision. These decisions are not always easy, but student and staff safety remains the determining factor every time.
👉 When weather forecasts are uncertain, we strongly encourage families to have a backup plan in place in case school is canceled or delayed. Preparing ahead of time helps ensure a smoother morning for everyone if changes occur.
