Steps for New Hires
New Driver purchases their CDL packet from the DMV (must have driver's license and birth certificate or passport)
The New Driver makes an appointment and takes the written test for CDL. (If they pass, permit will be issued)
New Driver begins ELDT – Theory & BTW-Range & Public Road Training.
After New Driver completes the Theory ELDT courses and passes exam with an 80% or better. Enter into FMCSA system within 48 business hours of Completion
Driver Completes Behind the Wheel Training-Public & Range, you must enter the driver’s certificate of complete into the FMCSA within 48 hours.---Documents for all ELDT training info needs to be kept for 3 years.
Appointment for skills test is scheduled. Transport New Driver along with a bus provided by the district. Passes test and earns his/her CDL with P & S endorsements. (They must bring their test sheets provided to them with the permit scores on them and Birth Certificate and/or passport—Whatever they brought in when they took written test.) Driver can not schedule test until all their ELDT information is entered into the system.
