#OneTeamOneFamily

Transportation and Safety

At Lamar, the safety, security, and well-being of our students, staff, and community are top priorities. Below is an overview of our comprehensive safety and prevention measures.

School Resource Officers (SROs)

Lamar School District is committed to providing a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment where every student can learn and thrive. Our School Resource Officer (SRO) Program is an important part of that commitment.

Lamar School District is proud to have two dedicated School Resource Officers serving our campus. Our SROs work closely with students, staff, families, and school administrators to support campus safety, provide education and prevention resources, and respond when assistance is needed.

Beyond school safety, our SROs are an important part of the Warrior family. By building positive relationships with students, serving as trusted mentors and role models, and maintaining a visible and approachable presence throughout our schools, they help create an environment where students feel safe, supported, and connected.

At Lamar, school safety is about more than being prepared—it is about building relationships, earning trust, and working together to take care of our students.

Campus Building Security

Lamar School District takes a layered approach to campus security, combining secure facilities, technology, established procedures, and vigilant staff to help provide a safe learning environment for our students.

Secure Entry System

All Lamar School District buildings are equipped with secure entry systems at their main entrances. During the school day, exterior doors remain locked, and visitors must request access through the main entrance before being admitted by school personnel.

All visitors are required to report to the school office and present a valid photo ID upon entering a campus building during school hours.

Security Cameras

Indoor and outdoor security cameras are located throughout the district to provide additional monitoring of our schools and campus grounds. These systems help school administrators and School Resource Officers monitor activity and respond quickly when concerns arise.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures

Lamar Elementary School uses an established car rider system to help ensure students are released safely during dismissal. Families of students in grades K–4 are provided an assigned car tag that must be clearly displayed during afternoon pickup. Students are released only through established dismissal procedures to authorized individuals.

Families receive additional information from the school regarding arrival and dismissal routes, procedures, and any campus-specific expectations.
