Meet Marshall

A brown dog sits next to a sign that reads 'MFFT MARSHALL, Laura Doody's Therapy Dog'.

Lamar Elementary is excited to share that a certified therapy dog has joined Mrs. Bratton’s classroom and will have the opportunity to visit classrooms throughout the school year.

🐶......... Meet Marshall!

Marshall is a 3-year-old German Wirehaired Pointer and American Foxhound mix who has completed the qualifications and training to become a certified therapy dog. He was trained by Sonya and Lee Weatherall of Hounds with Halos.

Marshall’s job is simple: help bring comfort, encouragement, calm, and joy to our students and staff.

A therapy dog is different from a service dog. Therapy dogs provide comfort, emotional support, and encouragement to many people, while service dogs are specially trained to assist one specific individual.
